"David has got decisions to make regarding his future but at the moment he is a Preston North End player," he said after the Whites 2-1 home win against QPR on Tuesday night.
"He is working his socks off and just focusing on playing football. He has reacted to the situation really well. Full credit to him.
"He is a top striker and as long as David Healy is with us we're looking for him to score his goals.
"We're looking forward to Saturday now and I hope he can go on from now and continue to score goals."
