Rumours then linked Preston to Stoke duo, Danny Pugh and Michael Tonge. However, Ferguson has today confirmed that the targeted duo will not becomi9ng to Deepdale at least immediately.
The chairman has basically said that one is out of the question due to wages - presumably Tonge and for the other a deal could not be sorted out - probably because Pugh did not want to return to a doomed club in the Championship relegation zone.
