Coutts played under Ferguson at Peterborough before the former signed the latter in his reign as manager at Deepdale. The midfielder was out injured for much of last season but now seems fit and ready for the new term.
Peterborough have already had a derisory offer rejected by the Preston board but it seems that Ferguson maybe willing to up his bid to tempt Preston into selling.
