Irvine changed his side once again with Parkin and Mellor starting up front whilst Chaplow returned to start with Nicholson whilst Sedgewick played on the right.

Preston passed the ball well at times and took the lead early on as Sedgewick beat the Peterbough left back Lee. Sedgewick then passed the ball into the centre to an unmarked Mellor who tapped in from inside the box.

Soon after the Peterborough left back went missing again as Billy Jones surged fown the right flank with an interchange of passes putting him clean through on goal. The right back put away a tidy finish and the game was effectively over.'

Preston's only moment of concern was whn midfielder Nicholson went into a 50/50 tackle and came out second best. He was stretchered off with what looks like a serious leg injury and was replaced by Crater.

Peterborough tightened up by replacing the left back ont he half hour mark and when the second half came around Preston became complacent allowing Peterborough to come back in the game. The visitors couldn't convert posession into chances with Lonergan not forced into maing any major saves.

Parry then came on for North End to liven things up and the move of the match came towards the end of the game. Chaplow skinned his man before a good pass and a cross into the box which Wallace just failed to steer into the net.

Preston continue their unbeaten start to the season but will face tougher tests than Peterborough at home this season.
