Noth End travelled to Vicory Park for the annual Jack Kirkland trophy game. Snodin oversaw proceedings in the absence of Simon Grayson as two different sides played each half.

Preston were behind by two goals in the first half before Scott Laird pulled one back with a superb effort. Garner equalised before new boy Andy Little sealed the vistory.

Several players were left out due to niggles along with Reid who is continuing is rehabilitation and Wright who has returned from the World Cup.

It was good for Preston to actually get a game started with local rivals Blackpool having to cancel their pre-season tour to Spain due to the fact that they did not have enough players to field an 11 a-side teamweeks before the season starts.
