Grayson gave a glimpse of his starting line up for the first game of the season as he maintained the starting eleven for an hour of the match albeit there were no major susprises.

Jones started in nets and will do until the situation with an incoming keeper is resolved. He had little to do throughout the game thanks to some wayward finishing.

Clarke started at right back with Woods on the left. Huntington partnered Bailey Wright int he centre. Pretson then had a midfield thee of Johnson Welsh and Gallagher whilst new boy Will Keane supported Beckford and Garner.

The game was competitive for a period of around twenty minutes either side of the half time break. Hearts had the better up until half time mostly from headed opportunities but nothing troubled Jones.

Beckford troubled the visitng defence and appeared to be tripped in the box but no penalty was given. Pretson had the better of the second half forcing the keeper into an early save before the goal came.

The keeper, Alexander, fluffed a clearance which ballooned to Garner who headed towards goal. The keeper scrambled to keep the ball out but according to the linesman the ball had crossed the line.

After thehour mark Preston's line up reverted to that of a youth team with Anderton, Heaton, Ryan, Davies and others given time in the middle. Only Johnson Clarke and jones survived the full ninety minutes.

The game was useful in that Preston palyed with an attacking three which could be used this season and players got mor eminutes under their belts. Preston now travel to Southport where they will hope to continue their preseason record of not conceding a goal.
