Gentry Day Delight

North End took over 4,400 fans to Bolton where they had never won previously at the Macron Stadium. The last time they had defeated Bolton was at the start of the 90's.

in addition, it was the first time under Simon Grayson that Preston had come from behind in an away league match to win again. To top it all off it was the first win for several years in the annual Gentry Day outing for the Preston fans.

Preston should have taken the lead inside 15 seconds when a left wing cross met the head of Hughill who was in for the suspended Garner. His header went inches over the bar but he should have done better.

Bolton then took the initiative and Preston lacked any kind of intensity. It was as if the last three games without a win had meant an end to the season and it seemd Preston wer ein holiday mode int he first half.

The home side scored from the edge of the box. Trotter was given an eternity as the ball was moved from left to right and he curled in from the edge past an unsighted Lindegaard.

Grayson changed the formation atthe break. Reach switched to the right and Robinson to the left as they formed a 3 man attack with Hughill instead of the firts half 3-5-2.

Robinson made a massive difference on the left torturing the Bolton right back on more than one occasion. The first goal came from a cross. Hughill put his head in where it hurt to nod home from close range.

The referee was poor all afternoon reluctant to wave his card including a situation which infuriated Neil Lennon. Davies appeared to be through on goal when he appeared to slip with Johnson in pursuit. Nothing was given and the game continued.

North End scored the winner when a left wing cross found substitute Vermijl late on. He fired back across towards goal and the ball was heading in but took a defelction off Doyle who will claim the goal.

The ball was in the net again but was ruled out for offside when  Preston should have held firm. In the end it didn't matter and Preston maintain their top ten status.
