Holmes was once a regular in the Preston side on the left wing after joining when Westley was in charge. Reid was brought this season to challenge him for the left wing slot but Holmes didn't even get started.
An injury on the first day of pre-season forced Holmes out of action and by the time of his return in October Gallagher had covered his slot. Robinson soon came in on loan and holmes was surplus to requirements being loaned out to Portsmouth then Exeter.
At time he showed what a great talent he could be but this season is one to write off as he moves to Exeter to start afresh.
