Hugill Earns Preston A Point

Ben Pearson came back into the starting line up to play alongside Johnson in midfield whilst Hugill played up front against Ipsich who are looking to land the striker on a permanent deal.

Preston were poor in the first half and it was not the first time this season where they have started slowly. Ipswich entered the game in poor form with a manager under pressure but North End couldnot take advantage.

The visitors took the lead thanks to the lively Lawrence. He cut in from the wing beating the defender before curling a rasping shot beyond the reach of Maxwell.

North End had no answers in the first half but then went on the attack after the break. Towards the end it was probably the most attacking side put out by Grayson with Makienok, Beckford, Hugill, Gallagher, McGeady and Horgan all on the pitch.

Preston were denying themselves at times. There were two occasions when goalbound shots were blocked by a teammate. McGeady also appeared to try his luck from anywhere on the field without success.

The equaliser came late on when a ball into the box was flicked on to Hugill around five yards out. The defence waited for the offside flag to be raised but Hugill tapped home for the equaliser.

North End decided to celebrate for a good 60 seconds before realising they had a chance to press for a winner in injury time. Time did run out and Preston came away with a point.
