Jordan Hugill has been out of action with a minor injury over the past week or so. Earlier in the summer Birmingham City had a bid rejected for the frontman and were reconsidering whether to increase their offer.
Sunderland now appear to be prepared to enter into the race for Hugill although there has been no formal bid tabled at this point. There was speclation that Hugill had handed in a transfer request but nothing has been confirmed.
Preston have rejected previous bids in the region of £2.5 million so there would have to be an increase on this sum for Preston to sell their top scorer from last season.
