Irvine To Appeal Williamson's Red Card

Williamson who was shown a straight red for an alleged fracas with Birmingham's Lee Bowyer would miss the next three games if the suspension stood - meaning he would have to sit out the final game of the season and two further games whether these be with North End or back at his parent club, Watford.

TV replays show that Williamson was the innocent party in the incident and he was unlucky to be shown a red card. Irvine will now lodge an appeal which should be heard at some point this week meaning if successful Williamson will be allowed to play in North End's crucial final game at home to QPR on Sunday.

Ross Wallace will miss the fixture as the rules state that you cannot appeal a red card that has been obtained due to two yellow cards. This means that Preston will be short of a left sided player for one match with Simon Whaley likely to fill the void.
