Grayson stuck with his makeshift back three of Wright, Woods and Cunningham who had been on a run of clean sheets since the defeat at Sheffield Wednesday. They added another to the list as Preston's back line stood firm against an attacking Forest unit.

The game was lively from start to finish. Forest created a chance in the opening minute before Preston went up the other end and took the lead. A Johnson shot was saved before Doyle hit the ball towards goal. The bal clipped the legs of the keeper but went in.

Preston had more chances in the first half with Garner shooting wide when he should have scored. Garner also should have done better with a free ehader which went over.

Forest came forward particularly in the second half with Pickford making severl routine saves. North End sat back and invited pressure especially when switching to a 4-5-1 formation in the second half.

It was panic stations at points throughout the game but Forest were unable to create a serious chance to press home any advantage of posession they had.

North End move up to 16th in the tbale and away from the relegation zone in what is becoming a very tight division. Preston travel to QPR on Saturday before the international break.
