It's A Grim End For Liam

Simon Grayson often had a hit and miss startegy with his transfers with one excelling whilst the other fell into the shadows. Grimshaw and Pearson, Boyle and Horgan, O'Connor and Maguire to name just three pairings who were all signed at similar times having differing impacts at the club.

The signing of Grimshaw was a strange on. He was injured at the time and the official word was that he would be back in a matter of weeks having signed in the January transfer window.

Grimshaw underwent surgery but was nowhere to be seen for the rest of the season. Financially, the signing did not make sense wasting wages for several months.

He was described as a midfielder but at the start of last season was thrust into the side at right back due to injuries. Grimshaw clearly is and never was a right back. When Baptiste arrived Grimshaw was again relegated outside of the matchday squad.

The midfielder eventually went on oan to Chesterfield and despite a change of management this summer he has not impressed. He did play in midfield at Accrington but was poor and Neil was clearly not prepared to give Grimshaw a run of games.

His contract was cancelled on transfer deadline day and he immediately signed for Motherwell where he had played before. He needs a run of games in his favoured position and then we can assess his real potential.
