It's A Long Road Ahead

Before the game Westley asked the fans for patience as he implied that Orient would be coming to Deepdale to spoil and distrupt the game. The visitors had come to park the bus but in reality they didn't even need to park a scooter in front of their goal as Preston failed to make one real threat on the Orient goal throughout the game.

Preston's three new boys came in as the pack was shuffled. Macallister started at left back with a surprise recall for Brian Mclean at right back. Holroyd and Andrew Procter started in midfield whilst Jervis and Jamie Proctor led the line.

All thoughts of creativity were banished as Danny Mayor and Keamar Daley were nowhere near the squad whilst youngster Harry Bunn was nowhere to be seen after scoring last week.

The first half was dull and lifeless. Orient were a little timid expecting more from their hosts. The visitors had a couple of long range efforts before they got into the game more and cut Preston open a couple of times without any real cutting edge.

Jervis for some reason was replaced by Nicholson before the break which left Jamie Proctor up front on his own to be supported by the midfield.

The Whites did not change in the second half and were thoroughly blunt when going forward. It was just a question as to how adventurous Leyton Orient were going to be.

The visitors snatched a goal thanks to a twisting and turning run in the box followed by a fine finish. From that moment on the game was over as the away side ran down the clock with every time wasting trick in the book.

The lead was doubled late on as Preston tried to push for an equaliser in vein. In all honesty Preston deserved nothing out of this match and Westley will have to find some attacking intent before he manages to resolve the defensive issues at the club.
