The news that Daniel Johnson had been offered a contract extension came as a surprise to some North End fans. The midfielder went off the boil in the second half of last season and rarely featured.
He had not been involved much this season but was thrust into the action last night after signing an extension to his deal which will keep him at the club until 2021.
Johnson has had patches where he drives forward and can score goals. He has been more restricted under Neil partly due to the usual formation played and Johnson has had to play deeper or out wide thus limiting his opportunities.
Preston are keen to tie down their youngsters so in that respect Johnson is just the next in a long list of players signing deals but it will be interesting to see how his future develops.
