Sources have set out that Preston made a bid for the United goalkeeper to sign him on a permanent deal. Whilst the figure is unknown it was meant to be substantial. The bid was rejected.
Preston have signed Jordan Pickford on a season long loan from Sunderland and so it would appear that any move for Johnstone may be put on hold especially given that the Premier League club appear to be unwilling to sell their young keeper.
