The 19-year-old North End midfielder had to go off in a behind-closed-doors game against Rochdale after taking a knock on the foot.
Manager Craig Brown said: "Michael took another knock on his foot - the same one that was broken.
"He has had to go for a scan on it and we are waiting to see if it's a recurrence of the same problem."
