Jordan Pickford had returned to Sunderland and Sam Johnstone had been signed on a 28 day loan. Grayson said last week that the situation is outside of his hands hoping that Sunderland may not require Pickford and he could become available at the end of the month.
Unfortunately it is now highly unikely that Pickford will return given that he was given a start in Sunderland's Premier League defeat at Tottenham and he excelled in the game. I expect that Preston will attempt to sign Johnstone on loan until the end of the season although it has bene reported that QPR have made a £1 million bid for the keeper.
