Paul Simpson reverted back to a 4-4-2 formation as he took his side north of the border to face Scottish side Kilmarnock. Preston had much of the first half but once again it will be the fact that North End failed to score that will worry most fans. Nugent hit the post in the first minute but the home side took the lead through Di Giacomo.

Preston pressed for the equaliser which came in the second half when Whaley put a cross in. Nugent pressed which forced Wright to fire into his own net.

Preston have now failed to score in their last two matches and throughout pre-season Dichio and Hibbert have looked inefficient alongside the prolific Nugent. Simpson's search for a striker continues as he tries to find the misisng piece in the jigsaw.
