Last Gasp Strike Denies Preston

Grayson continued with the 4-4-2 formation with Wiseman given his first league start at full back with Clarke shifting inside to partner Wright. Davies partnered Garner up front whilst Holmes and Gallagher occupied thr wings.

Coventry came to play football unlike most who simply sit back and wait for a break. It was quite refreshing and allowed Preston to play their own game and dominate for much of the match.

North End had several opportunities before they actually took the lead in the second half. Garner had a shot well saved whilst Davies should have scored with a header. The ex-Bolton man then had a volley over the bar when he should have done better.

Preston got the breakthrough when Davies fired home beyond the keeper and off the bar into the back of the net. It was never going to be enough judging by past home performances this season.

The frontman was then sent off late on when it appeared he went in with a two footed tackle. There is some debate over how bad the tackle actually was and whether an appeal is to be launched is yet to be seen.

Four minutes of additional time were put up on the board but due to a substitution and the ball going astray the referee added a further two minutes. This in my book makes 96 minutes but the referee allowed play to continue well into the 97th minute when Moussa had Coventry's only shot from 35 yards out to equalise.

Frustration was levelled at the referee for his poor time keeping but iltimately Preston should have killed the game off when they were on top.
