Late Equaliser Gives Precious Point

Brighton was always going to be a tough game despite the previous four meetings heralding no goals. Grayson was always going to set up defensively and his side managed to come away with a point.

If Preston can come out of these next few weeks unscathed and still a few points above the bottom three then there is a chance that North End might push on to mid-table respectability come the new year.

Grayson set up in a 5-3-2 formation and the visitors actually took the lead through Hughill after some poor play by Brighton. The young striker was the spearhead for the attack and has shone given the additional responsibilities. It seems a long time ago since the petulant stamp at MK Dons at the start of last season.

Brighton were always going to come back in the game and scored two goals in the second half which would normally see them take all three points. Baldock equalised before Murray have the hosts the lead.

Preston do have some variety this season and Makienok was thrown on with Gallagher and Pringle to fire in the crosses. The plan wored as deep in stoppage time Makienok scored his first league goal to give Preston the equaliser.

North End were down to ten men as Welsh went off injured but with a run of games coming up it was always likely that Grayson would rotate his squad.

Preston now face Huddersfield at home on Wednesday before travelling to Norwich next Saturday and then two games in a week against Newcastle.
