Late Goal Denies Preston Again

Grayson changed his tactics for the phsyical approach of Stevenage so Welsh and Kenae were paired in midfield whilst Kevin Davies started up front. Preston seemed to cope with Westley's team until the end of the game.

Clarke gave Preston the lead on the same evening that his brother netted for Leyton Orient. Preston had a penalty shout turned down when Garner appeared to be fouled in the box but Smith qualised for the home side in injury time.

Westley was comparing the game to United's comeback in 99 against Bayern Munich in the Nou Camp. Some things never change and Preston's old boss could only seem to recall the final few moments and not the dominant side who were on top for the majority.

Preston, not for the first time, failed to kill off inferior opponents. Late goals have cost them several times this season most recently against Stevenage, Rotherham and Coventry.

Brentford and Orient pulled away with wins although the pair play each other on Saturday meaning Preston have to capitalise on Monday against Sheff Utd which is the start of their ten game run in.
