He has had an indifferent career thus far. His time at Cardiff has been hit and miss but he has shown some potential. In all reality Preston are rarely going to sign fully polished players and Murphy fits into a category where North End have taken a risk for a year which may pay off.
It will be interesting to see how Murphy fits into the 5-3-2 formation that has been adopted at Preston. He will want to impress during his season long loan to show that he can fulfill his potential.
