The left back has been out injured for a couple of months after putting in some top level performances earlier in the season. Everton have been tracking the youngster for some time and Preston decided to move to tie Earl down to a three year contract.
It now appears, according to online reports, that both Merseyside clubs are watching Earl although his injury status means that any move is unlikly in the January transfer window.
