North End signed McCann from St Johnstone for a fee reportedly north of a million just before the transfer window shut. Preston now have multiple options in the middle of the park given that they now play three across the middle.
McCann should add some steel to the middle and help to protest the backline. It will be interesting to see who will start in midfield with Ledson, Whiteman, Browne and Johnson amongst others all competing for places.
It would seem that the three maybe split with one more defensive role and one midfielder being more attacking. Whiteman is likely to be styled in a quarterback type role but it is interesting times ahead in terms of selection.
