Midfield Strikes End Winless Run

Preston had the better of the first half both in terms of possession and attempts on goal but it seems Preston's strikers are a little short of confidence with Mellor dropped to the bench as Parkin and Brown started up front.

Plymouth were pretty poor in the first half and Preston capitalised early on. Chaplow had an initial shot which was cleared but ended back withthe midfielder just outside of the box. His second attempt saw a slight deflection which wrong footed the goalkeeper and end in the back of the net. In fairness Chaplow deserved the break as he had an excellent game.

Parkin then missed an open goal from six yards out with his head before Ross Wallace cut into the box and saw his right foot shot hit the back of the net. Preston had numerous other chances but failed to convert.

Preston continued to have chances after the break but Plymouth came back into the game forcing several saves from Lonergan. Preston became sloppy and Plymouth hit the bar twice in quick succession to fire a warning that the game was not yet over.

Preston were wasteful but thanks to Plymouth being a very average outfit the Whites managed to hang on to their two goal lead.
