Missed Opportunity

Changes were made due to Bailey Wright and Callum Robinson being on international duty. Surprisingly King replaced Wright at the back to form a back three whilst Humprhey started on the wing.

The conditions were windy and caused havoc for both sides with both keepers kicking out into touch regulary as the wind caught the ball. Preston did adapt the better in the first half and managed to get the ball down and play.

North End took an early lead thanks to the man of the moment Daniel Johnson. Since signing in January for £50,000 he has exceeded all expectation and been at the hub of Preston's turn in form.

Fleetwood could only clear a corner to the edge of the box where Johnson, lethal as ever, curled a left footed shot around a number of players into the corner.

North End should have been two up before the break with Beckford missing a sitter from close range. It was easier to score and most are still figuring out how he didn't. Beckford is becoming one of these players who needs five chances before he scores one. This time it cost Preston.

The home side came back into it in the second half. There was concern all round when Johnstone came out to clear and clattered Huntington with Pond also being injured in the process. The Preston defender appeared to be out cold and was down for around 8 minutes before being stretched off with an oxygen mask applied.

Thankfully, Huntington appeared to be fine afterthe game in the dressing room and any injury is thought not to be long term although the club will have to take precautions as Clarke sat out a week or so earlier in the season when he suffered a bang to the head.

Fleetwood scored soon after through Ball who may never score another goal like it. He chipped the ball from an angle from outside th ebox. Johnstone did not seem too far out but he was helpless as it sailed over him onto the post and into the net. Ball seemed to use the wind expertly.

The home side pressed for a winner and it became end to end in the long stoppage time that was adedd due to Huntington's injury. Neither side could find a winner and the point means Preston move four clear of Swindon having played a game more.
