The side reverted to the opening league game afterthe midweel Capital One Cup game with the only change beig Humphrey who came in at right wing back in place of the injured Vermijl.

MK Dons had the first chance of the game but could not convert with Pickford looking strong in goal. Preston wree comfortable pressing high not allowing MK Dons to play and playing counter attacking football.

Preston broker quickly severl times int he firts half. Johnson had two chances either side of the goal where he was put through on the left but each time he dragged his shot from the edge of the box just wide.

The goal came as MK Dons were actually attacking. Cunningham cleared and after some good build up by Keane and Garner the latter crossed to Gallagher int he box who turned to beat his men then slot past the keeper.

MK Dons could not find a way through in the second half. There was a penalty shout apiece with attacking players both pulled down in the box but nothing given by the referee.

North End were hanging on at the end which was their own fault. Hughill came on as a late substitute and almost immediately received a red card for what appeare to be a petulant stamp out at a home layer.

Grayson will be happy with four points in the first two games with a match coming up against out of form Rotherham on Tuesday.
