The midfield man who fell out of favour with former boss Paul Simpson has rarely featured since breaking his leg two years ago. He recovered after a year from the injury to find opportunities restricted.

Nowland has been out on loan at Gillingham and Stockport but found life tough. A deal was put in place before Irvine came to Preston that Nowland could leave and search for a new club in January. The midfield man is now looking for a new home.

Preston also tied up the Agyemang deal today netting them £350,000 from the striker's departure. Irvine has now removed four from the wage bill in three days as he searches for fresh blood for the run in.
