Officials Cost Preston

North End lined up with Humphery and Little in support of Garner. Youngsters Borwne and Brownhill plaed ahead of Kilkenny in midfield. Jack King slotted in at centre back alongside Clarke whilst Wisemand and Davies filled the full back roles.

Preston took the lead early on as Andy Little cut inside from the left and curled in a cross intot he box. The cross evaded everyone nad the keeper could not prevent the ball from going into the bottom corner.

The visitors should have been level. King was caught on the ball and Campbell Rice failed to capitalise. Ben Davies also looked shaky and the defence took time to settle with the visitors not fully taking advantge of Preston's poor defending.

Sheff Utd did equalise before the break when Baxter had a shot defelected off Wiseman and past keeper Jones. The goal was harsh but had been coming.

At the start of the second half Davies was replaced by Woods and it may be sometime before he is seen in the first eleven again. Preston looked more solid int he second half and controlled the game.

Hughill came on and had a volley but could only find the keeper. North End had other chances which they should have converted but the controversial moment came when Jack King headed home or so he thought.

Many North End players wheeled away and replays showed the ball to be a foot over theline before the keeper pushed the ball away. The officials could not see whether the ball had crossed the line and so the referee waved play on.

The home side were disappointed not to take all three points against a side who will be strong throughout this season. North End remain unbeaten but need to start producing wins to climb up the table.
