Point For Preston Maintains Unbeaten Start

Sheffield Wednesday played well in the first half using the width of the pitch well combined with poor full back play from the recalled Matt Hill and Billy Jones who was particularly off colour.

Wednesday took the lead before the quarter of an hour mark. A long throw was sent into the box. Lonergan flapped amongst a mass of bodies with the ball parried to Mcallister only ten yards out who slotted the ball home.

Make no mistake Preston were poor throughout the first forty five. Thye failed to get the ball down and everything was very Pual Simpson like being pumped up front and gobbled up by the two six foot seven Wednesday centre backs.

Wednesday dominated the first half possession without making Lonergan work. A better side would have punished Preston but thankfully Wednesday were a powderpuff outfit who are not likely to trouble the top six.

Preston played better in the second half getting the ball on the deck but the major change was when Wallace came on the left with Hawley joining Mellor up front. Wallace looked skillful whilst Hawley caused trouble.

Wednesday had a free header cleared off the line by Sedgewick's shoulder but apart from that Preston were rarely troubled with Lonergan saving from a tame shot.

Preston went forward with Chaplow being played in by a great Sedgewick run. Chaplow then blasted wide when it was easier to score. He amended soon after when Walleace played a magnificent crossfield ball to Sedgewick. The Wednesdya full back misjudged his header leaving Sedgewick to run into the box to cross. Chaplow could not miss and slotted home from two yards out to score his second in consecutive Saturday's.

Preston will have to improve if they are to get results against the tougher teams in the league but a point away from home is always invaluable and now Preston need to push on from this good start.
