Pre-Season Programme Complete

North End travelled to Hartlepool on Friday evening where they came away with a single goal victory thanks to a penalty from Joe Garner who appears to have found the scoring touch in pre-season despite his sending off at Fleetwood.

Stuckmann also saved a penalty int he match at Hartlepool which featured two trialists, Nicholson and Aspas who both featured in the game and have been training with the club.

On Saturday Grayson picked a strong eleven to travel to Rochdale where Tom Clarke scored his first goal for the club staring at centre back. Rochdale levelled in the second half as the game ended all square.

The official friendly games are now over although behind closed door matches are often arranged int he last week of the season especially for players who have not featured due to injuries.

Pre-season is always difficult to judge. North End have only managed to beat non-league opposition and Hartlepool with a penalty but did look solid against Blackburn who are at a higher level.

Injuries have prevented Beavon, Monakana and Hume being fully ready for the start of the season although Hume is likely to be a starter against Wolves. Kevin Davies appears to have made an impact and it will be interesting to see who he is paired with as the season goes on.

There appears to be a change at the back with Grayson favouring Clarke over Huntington whilst Laird has not made his way back intot he starting eleven if the weekend line ups were anything to go by.

This all goes out of the window on Saturday when we shall see where Preston really are in terms of their development as a team with an eye finishing in the upper reaches of the table this season.
