Preston Dispose Of Poor Plymouth

The approximate time I knew Preston would win was around 1.30 on Saturday morning when I was chatting to Ian Holloway of all people at a hotel bar. One of the nicest guys you will ever meet but just had the feeling after seeing his squad sat in the lounge that we could win this one.

Must say thanks to Ian for what was a great night - can't have been easy sat in the same room as Roy Keane who seemed to have a bit of an ego problem.

Now back to the game. Preston are almost 15 months undefeated at home in the league and today showed why. Plymouth were dogged, Preston at best were average.

Things can go for you and thankfully today they did. A great Danny Pugh 25 yarder hit the back of the net when other days it may well have hit the stand. Ormerod scored the second what looked like an offside position and the third of course a penalty.

Credit to Preston who plugged away although there was anonymity from certain players. Whaley looked less than his usual impressive self. Nugent wasn't as lively as other perhaps all the speculation getting him down and it was left to his strike partner Ormerod to run the show.

The defence looked untroubled with Danny Pugh providing that much missed width down the left. Hopefully Preston can now push on into the festive period and if they can maintain their amazing home record then they will be in with a chance come the end of the season.
