The game was not the most memorable affair with Preston being nowehere near the top of their game although it was another clean sheet for a back four who are now getting well acquanited.
North End took the lead early on thanks to an unliekly source. Huntington was free in the box after staying up for a corner. He smashed home with his left foot to give Preston the lead. That was his second in succession.
The visitors controlled the game in midfield passing the ball well but ultimately did little to trouble the Preston goal save for the odd chance that Preston kept out.
The home side were disticntly average but could have wrapped upt he game when Gallagher was tripped in the box and the referee awarded a penalty. Gallagher blasted the penalty well over the bar into the Kop.
North End go through to the Third Round with the draw live on BBC Two this evening.
