A brief Doncaster statement read: "Rovers have rejected a bid for midfielder Martin Woods from fellow Championship side Preston North End."
Woods, who came through the Leeds academy, moved on to Sunderland after failing to make the first-team breakthrough at Elland Road, but made only one appearance for the Black Cats before spending the 2006/7 season at Rotherham.
He joined Doncaster on a free transfer in June 2007 and has been a regular in Sean O'Driscoll's side for the last two seasons.
