Brown was under pressure going into this game as he could have equalled Ferguson's 14 game winless streak of last season if Preston failed to win away at Hartlepool this evening.
Hartlepool were on a terrible run of their own having lost their last five league home games which is a club record. It really was a game between two very out of form sides.
North End managed to edge the game thanks to a first half Neil Mellor goal which was the difference between the two sides. Preston now have the weekend off before their JPT semi final next Tuesday.
