North End tried to buy Ledson during the January transfer window but did not match the valuation set by Oxford. Ledson remained at Oxford but with his contract now winding down Oxford will most likely sell in order to cash in on the youngster.
Neil has been looking to bolster his midfield alongside Ben Pearson. Paul Gallagher is out of contract and it is unlear if he will be offered a new deal at this moment in time.
Ledson fits into the present recruiting criteria of a young hungry player looking to progress. He would also bolster Preston's midfield.
