Preston Slip To Pre-Season Defeat

Neil made numerous changes from Saturday's outing against Newcastle. This will be all change again for the final pre-season game where I suspect Neil will play as close to his first eleven as possible.

Looking at the teamsheet a lot of the players last night may well be used as back up throughout the season. Welsh returned after a long injury and Harrop stepped upafter playing 30 minutes on Saturday but the likes of Spurr, Earl, Doyle, Boyle and Grimshaw are unlikely to start many games this term.

Preston went behind to a Walters goal in the first half followed by a Long goal ater the break. North End introduced new boys O'Connor and Maguire at half time with the latter scoring to reduce the deficit.

There is alot of pressure being heaped on Maguire but there has to be a concern with respect to overplaing as the season continues. He has come straight from Cork City in fine form and has had little rest. He will have to be managed appropriately as the season plays out.
