The Preston squad arrive jet lagged after only touching down 48 hours earlier from their American tour. A strong side was put out by Simpson and on a positive note Neil Mellor bagged a goal after 39 minutes to give North End the lead. Dodgson equalised ten minutes after half time as a crowd of 620 watched the match.
Preston have one match remaining at home this Saturday to Blackburn where more will be revealed as to Simpson's opening day starting line up before the 11 August kick off date.
