St Ledger Finally Joins Boro

Middlesborough first wanted to do a deal on transfer deadline day but the paper work was not rushed through in time so the Teesiders had to wait until the loan market re-opened before they could make a move.

In theory, Middlesborough can only loan a player for 96 days under the regulations which will take them up until December when it is likely that St Ledger will sign a permanent deal once the transfer market re-opens fully.

Preston will receive £1.5 million straight away with a further £3 million in January when the deal becomes permanent. The manager and player did not want to leave the club and the defender travelled with the North End squad to play Scunthorpe when he left the team hotel this morning once Preston had agreed a fee for the player.
