Apart from an outing against Liverpool, North End had only faced non-league opposition so far in pre-season so a visit to Morecambe was always going to prove to be a good test.
Preston came away with a two one victory thanks to goals from Joe Garner and Keith Keane who sealed the victory after Ryan Williams had equalised for the hosts.
Preston have now won four of their pre-season games with the only loss to Liverpool. Next up is Burnley on Tuesday evening before the final warm up game against Leicester on Saturday.
