Successive Successful South West Road Trips

The team was changed from the mid-week JPT game at Oldham and reverted to a more familiar starting line up. Jermaine Beckford started his first game as a lone striker in place of the injured Joe Garner.

Reid replaced the departed Callum Robinson on the left but the rest of the team was as expected with the back four now resembling a stronger unit than earlier in the season.

Preston got off to the perfect start from a Gallagher corner. The ball was floated in, and reminiscent to goals that Preston have conceded this season, Huntington headed home with ease.

Yeovil tried to break Preston down but the back line held firm and Stuckmann only had the odd shot to save throughout the entirety of the match. It was a second clean sheet for the back line after keeping out bristol City last week.

The game turned when Reid was fouled by Innis on the half way line. It appeared that the Yeovil defender had jumped in two footed and the referee sent off the defender.

Preston then finished the game off as Yeovil searched for an equaliser. On the counter, Kevin Davies played in Gallagher who ran through and curled past the keeper to seal the victory.

North End closed the gap on leaders Bristol City who won on Friday night. There is now a clear week before the FA Cup and then two fixtures against teams that will be looking for top six finishes this season in MK Dons and Peterborough.
