Summer Clear Out

First and foremost Simpson wants to move quickly and has an advantage with not being in the play offs. He has asked that the David Nugent situation be resolved by the end of May so he knows how much cash he will have to strengthen his squad.

Simpson also released five players from the wage bill and it is believed there would have been more but only five were out of contract! Ricketts and Pergl ended their short term contracts which were not to be renewed. Youngsters Parrillon and Hinchcliffe were released whilst Songo'o returns to Portsmouth. Dichio and Beattie were the other players out of contract and both have already left the club.

Four players have been placed on the transfer list. Wantaway goalkeeper Carlo Nash is no surprise. He is joined by Dave Hibbert who is yet to feature under Simpson along with castaway Jason Jarret and Adam Nowland.

Simpson has expressed his wish to keep Soley but that is all dependant on a fee and the interest from several top Belgium sides. Three youth players have signed professional contracts - goalkeeper Adam Murpghy, defender Daryl Adams and striker Chris Mcgrail.

All the departures means more than not Simpson will be looking to strengthen the midfield and frontline this Summer.
