Roy Keane's Ipswich side have been struggling at the start of the season and it showed early on when Parkin made the keeper work in a one on one situation. Preston took the lead soon after when Jones set up Wallace who drove a shot into the back of the net. Preston had the upper hand but could not convert. Ipswich came back into the game when Lonergan flapped at a ball. Ipswich gained hte ball in the box and Davidson appearing to cover his face was struck on his hands. Davidson wa sent off and Ipswich given a penalty. Lonergan saved the penalty but Walters slotted home the rebound. Ipswich could not convert their numerical advantage and Parkin had a chanve to win it in the second half but the game finished level.
