Unbeaten Run Ends

There was litttle between the sides with Preston having the lions share of possession - over 60%. However, neither side showed any imagination to try to break the others defence down. As derby games go this was fairly dreary but then again Preston are bottom of the league for a reason.

It was Preston who struck first with the best, maybe even the only, piece of decent football in the first half. Nicholson who has been a shining light in recent weeks (well he is out of contract in the summer) finished off a passing move.

If Preston had held onto all the leads they had created this season they would most likely be in the top half of the table. It was an inevitability that Burnley would score.

Burnley equalised before half time thanks to a long ball forward. It was a borderline offside call which the linesman gave in Rodriguez's favour who went on to slot home past Turner.

The game got a bit better in the second half but neither could force a clear cut chance. Burnley resorting to half hearted penalty claims such as when Eagles fell over after running straight into the defender.

The match was abject at best but Preston lost it in the last ten when a cross came in and a free ehader allowed Burnley to take the lead from a couple of yards out. Craig Morgan may well be shown the door this summer.

The game was just another in a poor season for Preston in which the banter between the two sets of fans was the highlight of what was a mediocre match. Burnley may yet make the play offs but they were far from the best side Preston have played this season. However, it is quite clear that Preston are evidently the worst side to have played at Deepdale this season.
