Wellbeck had returned to United over a week ago to have treatment on a swollen knee. He went through a training session yesterday at Carrington and was assessed as fit to return.
He is set to join up with the squad on Thursday but in the meantime will have a further training session at Carrington today as the Preston squad were not in training due to playing last night. He will be in the squad for Saturday's game against Forest.
