Whaley Heading For The Exit Door?

Whaley has never hit top form since his first few months at Deepdale after a switch from Bury. He played well under the final few games of Billy Davies's reign and also at the start of the Paul Simpson tenure but has looked nothing like a Championship player ever since.

He has been given every opportunity by Alan Irvine over the past 18 months including starting as a second stiker and scoring at Ipswich on the opening day of last season. Unfortunately, Whaley has never kicked on and was left on th ebench for most of the season.

Norwich and Blackpool are believed to have expressed an interest in the wideman but the East Anglian club are set to land their man early this week. Preston will then be able to turn their attention to bringing in a replacement with Daryll Russell mentioned as a possible target.
