Winless Streak Continues

Alex Neil was forced into changes. Alan Browne was out suspended but Maguire returned from injury. Harrop dropped to he bench and Robinson played behind Hugill. Ben Davies was also out injured so Callum Woods played at centre back.

Overall it was a poor defensive performance and there must now be concerns after starting the season solidly Preston are conceding goals left right and centre.

There were some poor performances around the pitch. Robinson looked a little lost on his return to the team. The midfield of Johnson and Pearson were sitting too deep and this allowed the game to get stretched with support limited for the front players.

Brentford opened the scoring in the first half. Maxwell parried a shot from inside the box but the rebound went straight to Yennaris who put the ball over the line. It was a deserved lead.

Preston did equalise before the break through a fine effort from Maguire. He took on the Brentford defence single handedly before slotting the ball home.

Yennaris then went off injured before the break in what loked like a serious injury. He was taken off on a stretcher as play was stopped for several minutes.

The visitors took the lead again early in the second half. A cross from the right found Sawyers. Whilst he failed to control the ball at first he still managed to get a shot away past Maxwell with the aid of a deflection.

There was some controversy in the build up to Brentford's second goal as Woods was not allowed to return to the field meaning that Preston were down to ten men whe the ball hit the net.

North End did pull the scoreline level again when Barkhuizen smashed in a great shot from the edge of the box. The home side then failed to take advantage and were wide open for Brentford to get the winner.

Brentford built up the play well down the right hand side. Earl was having to cover for an out of place Woods when Brentford managed to get in a cross from the right for Watkins to shoot home.

It was a disappointing day for Preston and it has been a poor month after a good start to the season. North End need to halt this slide before it turns into somthing much larger especially conceding goals.
