Hoping to bounce back from their 2-1 defeat to Reading on Tuesday, North End faced a tough test in high-flying West Bromwich Albion in front of the Sky cameras on Saturday.

Roberto Di Matteo's side were also looking to avoid suffering further defeat having lost their last two. In hindsight, a draw would have been the most sensible prediction heading into this game with both teams seemingly cancelling each other out.

Neither side were able to break the deadlock and in the end a goalless draw was a fair reflection of the game.

Neil Mellor

Mellor was hell bent on getting himself back on the score sheet after narrowly missing out against Reading on Tuesday. Unfortunately for the former Liverpool man he was unable to catch out the former England international Scot Carson in the Baggies' goal.

Richard Chaplow

Former Albion man Richard Chaplow kept his place in the starting eleven despite being taken off at half-time in the defeat to Reading.
