Preston went to Turf Moor with only two fit midfielders an dleft with one as Brian Stock had to be substituted at thalf time. However, the 4,000 strong away following were not disappointed with a well fought out win.

Preston took an early lead with a well worked free kick. Sedgwick touched the ball onto Alexander who then lobbed the ball into the box and Nugent volleyed home past the stranded keeper. Preston kept the ball well in the first half with Nash only having to make a save from long distance shots.

Half time came and Preston had to change as Stock was injured late in the first half. Alexander came into midfield with Mckenna, Mears at left back with Mawene on the opposite side! It was all very confusing but Preston forced the match with Agyemand being brought down in the box for a stonewall penalty. Alexander converted and Preston ended and hopes that Burnley had of making the play-offs.

Preston were on the up from the start with Sedgewick missing an opportunity in the first minute. The referee stayed strong in the derby game despite giving some decisions against North End in the middle of the park. Post match reaction sees the Clarets blaming th ematch on the referee but there was only one team likely to win this match. Preston now remain 19 unbeaten and the last time they won at Turf Moor was a promotion season... we still wait to see what happens in this one!
